Wargamer's Digest/Military
Digest
Wargamer's Digest was begun by Gene McCoy, a U.S. Army veteran,
in 1973. The magazine has been described as:
A digest of some
of the best military thinking down through the ages, amplified
by reports on current war gaming going on around the country,
with an analysis of the military actions involved.1
Reminiscences across
the Internet seem universally fond regarding the beginning of the
magazine, many recall the $25 dollar stipend paid to authors (which
did not apparently increase during the magazine's run), and a
decline in quality with the creation of Military Digest in
1984 beginning with Volume 11, No. 11. This quality decline was mostly associated with the
practice of reprinting
articles from earlier in the magazine's run.
